Steve Sheinkin responds to hearing the news that his book, "Bomb," was named as at Newbery Honor book, won the Sibert Medal and the YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction Award.
The Newbery Medal is awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
The Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal is awarded annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished informational book published in the United States in English during the preceding year. The Newbery and Sibert wards are administered by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
The YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction honors the best nonfiction book published for young adults (ages 12-18) during a Nov. 1 – Oct. 31 publishing year. The award is administered by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association.
